“In 2007, I designed and implemented a peer mentoring/tutoring program at Alexis I. DuPont High School, “Students Overseeing Students” (SOS), and I would like to expand the SOS program to serve a broader audience of students throughout Delaware. After attending the information session for UD’s Project Management Certificate, I thought this program would be a good fit for me to sharpen the skills I needed to manage my own project and any future projects successfully.”

“I enjoyed working with my team of classmates planning and creating a wonderful project. It was a positive experience for me to be able to capture everything we have learned in our capstone project presentation. I must say that I have been out of the college scene since 1982, and our instructor’s teaching method and strategy made it more manageable for me to adjust to the classroom again.”

“I have always been passionate about working with families and students of all ages and backgrounds who needed access to resources to assist them with their academic achievements.  Increasing my knowledge, skills and abilities of the framework of a project and the planning process will only support my efforts of building a better program.”

Sally Pitts-Rakes is the coordinator of the Jefferson Awards/Students in Action program at A.I. duPont High School in Wilmington, and a longtime employee of the United States Postal Service. She completed UD’s Project Management Certificate.
