Free seminars focus on retooling for post-pandemic career growth
Power Up Your Career

The University of Delaware’s Division of Professional and Continuing Studies (UD PCS) is again offering its Power Up Your Career seminar series free of charge this fall. The professional development mini-program is open to anyone looking for practical and immediately applicable career tips and resources.
This fall, the seminars focus on topics for professionals who may be transitioning in their careers, seeking to enhance their careers, or considering the implications of returning to their on-site workplaces.
“With the economy and our workplaces gradually getting back to normal as the pandemic eases, I think most of us realize it’s actually a ‘new normal’ that’s still evolving,” said UD’s Lynn Fishlock, series coordinator and program manager for UD’s Division of Professional and Continuing Studies. “’New normal’ will mean different things to different people depending on their careers and circumstances, so we want to help people adjust accordingly. As such, we’ve worked with our professional career coaches to come up with seminar topics that address the challenges people continue to face as they adapt to post-pandemic realities and opportunities.”
This fall’s Power Up Your Career seminars include:
- Developing a Positive Mindset for Returning to the Office (September 15)
- Networking Communication Skills to Enhance Your Career (October 20)
- Preparing Yourself with the Most Valued Skill Sets in the Marketplace (November 17)
- Taking the Leap: Is Entrepreneurship for You? (December 15)
Presenters include Delaware-based career experts Andrea Abernethy, Rebecca Leyson, Kris Morrison and Brenda Soto, whose collective credentials and professional backgrounds span career transition mentoring, international and bilingual talent development and career coaching, transition management, outplacement consulting, job-search support, social media and branding for job seekers, and more.
Power Up Your Career seminars have been a regular UD PCS offering for nearly a decade. The online webinar series has been offered at no cost since the start of the pandemic to offer relevant career tips and resources to members of our community facing professional and personal challenges.
The free webinars received more than 950 registrations last year and addressed subjects like career shifting, resume updating, social media presence, networking and virtual interviewing.
“We’re especially pleased to continuing offering this series to the community,” added Fishlock. “We hope the sessions can help participants become better prepared and positioned to successfully meet the challenges they may be facing.”
This fall’s Power Up Your Career online seminars meet via Zoom videoconferencing on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Participants are invited to register for the entire series or for individual seminars. Registration is free, but RSVPs are required.
